Wrap House

A home designed with a view of the Aspen landscape in mind

Imagine watching the sun rise between the trees and set over the mountains – from the comforts of home.  Sigh. We know. Owning a home with the perfect view sounds like a dream. For the lucky people of Aspen, Colorado, it’s becoming a popular reality, thanks to Studio B Architects and their Wrap House design.

As its name implies, the Wrap House is a home with an outdoor walkway that wraps around the entire upper level, offering residents a 360-degree view of the stunning Colorado landscape. The structure’s relationship with the surrounding environment is key.

These spaces address the landscape and allow the residents to enjoy the limited long distance views of the nearby mountains.

“The main living spaces of the residence are located on the upper floor with a south-facing deck,” explains Studio B. “This deck is then connected to a roof deck via a spiral staircase. These spaces address the landscape and allow the residents to enjoy the limited long distance views of the nearby mountains.”

Studio B Architects also considered the environment when designing the interior of the Wrap House. Aside from choosing energy efficient appliances, plumbing features and lighting fixtures, Studio B also selected engineered flooring made with recycled wood products, which reduced the amount of new wood required to build out the home.
